Day 1: Munich

Upon arrival in Munich, your Bavaria tour begins with a private transfer to your hotel. Check-in at hotel and enjoy the remainder of day at leisure.

Day 2: Munich - Lake Tegernsee

After breakfast, pick up your rental car and start your trip through the impressive south of Bavaria. The alpine region is one of Germany’s most delightful holiday areas. Beautiful lake Tegernsee is surrounded by hills and mountains. Here you
can relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the  Bavarian Alps.

Day 3: Lake Tegernsee to the city of Fuessen

After breakfast, travel through the Bavarian Alps along the famous Alpine Road to King’s Nook.  One of the most memorable moments of your journey will be the view of the imposing dome of the Monastery of Ettal as you cross over the Ettal pass.  Over the years, baroque and Rococo artists have created today’s façade and extravagant interior of the Monastery.

In the afternoon, there will be a guided tour of Oberammergau, home of the  famous Passion Play which takes place every ten years. Oberammergau combines a unique mixture of living culture and tradition, and is a must for your Bavaria tour. The most significant historical monument of the Lueftlmalerei is Pilate’s House.  Here you can purchase fine products at craft shops which are made by the local craft industry, or watch as woodcarvers create their works. Visit the Living Workshop, where fassmaler, potters and painters are at work.

Day 4: The Fairytale Castles

After breakfast, drive to visit the famous fairy tale castle of Neuschwanstein. The foundation stone was laid by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in 1869. The building was intended as a medieval knight’s castle and is located above a roaring gorge, 5 km from the city of Fuessen.

In the afternoon, visit Linderhof Palace, a splendid Rococo Palace which is the only one King Ludwig II finished and lived in.
The highlights of the artistically laid out landscape garden are the “King’s Little House”, the old King’s Lime Tree, Moorish Kiosk with the Peacock Throne, the Moroccan House and the Hundings Hut.  The Moorish Kiosk and the Hundings Hut is where the king used to spend his time when he was in a particular Germanic mood. It was acquired by Ludwig in 1876 for the gardens of the Palace. An open-sesame rock leads to an artificial grotto with it's waterfall.

Day 5: Fuessen - Augsburg

After breakfast, continue your Bavaria tour along Germany’s oldest and most famous tourist route, the Romantic Road filled with great evidence of European history, art and culture.  Visit the Wies Church located in the grassland on the base of the Alps, one of the most perfect art works of Bavarian Rococo and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

In the afternoon, you reach the city of Augsburg, with 2,000 years of development and rich in history. The city’s history is deeply rooted in the Roman Empire - Augsburg was originally founded by Caesar Augustus. The town’s fortune can be traced to the wealthy merchant families  Welser and Fugger, and a variety of craft guilds. While the Welsers had shipping interests, the Fuggers were so wealthy that they attracted a wide variety of money and status-seeking people to the town. Much of the city’s architecture has been under the influence of the Renaissance, during which time Augsburg was a major center of music, art and architecture. What we know now as the Rococo style was originally called the ‘Augsburg’ style.

Day 6: Augsburg - Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Today, continue tours of Bavaria to the main point of interest on the Romantic Road, the medieval town of Rothenburg,  a symbol of the Middle Ages in Germany.
After dinner, have a memorable experience of a guided tour through
Rothenburg with the town’s Night Watchman.

Day 7: Altmuehl Valley

In the morning, drive through the the Franconian Lake Area and reach one of the most beautiful river landscapes of Bavaria, the Altmuehl Valley. Here, with the Rhine-Main-Danube canal, the North Sea is connected to the Baltic Sea. There are many castles, but the comparatively small castle of Prunn is one of the best known castles of Bavaria. It has a unique site and a perfect blend of natural scenery and architecture.
In the afternoon visit the falconer at Castle Rosenburg. A highlight is the impressive show with falcons, eagles and vultures.

Day 8: Beilngries - Regensburg

After breakfast, drive along the Route of Emperors and Kings and visit Kelheim with the Liberation Hall, officially opened in remembrance of the Napoleonic Wars.
Later on, take a boat ride to experience the impressive Danube gorge and reach the picturesque monastery of Weltenburg which is the home of the world’s oldest monastery brewery with its famous dark beer. Lunch at the brewery pub.

After lunch, you drive to Regensburg, considered the best preserved medieval city of Germany. Regensburg, with its special charm, offers world renowned sights such as the gate to the Roman Castra Regina, Porta Praetoria, or the Old Stone Bridge. In the evening, have dinner in one of the famous brewery pubs of Regensburg, still representing genuine Bavarian hospitality.

Day 9: Regensburg - Passau

After breakfast, continue on to the glittering Glass Road (Crystal Route)
to the heart of the Bavarian Forest. Here, in the peaceful countryside amongst waves of forest, is the center of the glass making industry. Discover the treasures of exquisite glass making at the Weinfurtner glass art workshop, being one of the largest sales-exhibition in the region. Here you can watch glassmakers at work while enjoying coffee, cake and zither music. Excellent opportunity and time for shopping.

After lunch, travel on the overpass to the foothills of the Bavarian Forest, offering you fantastic panoramic views  on all sides. You reach the end of the Crystal Road at the three-river-city of Passau.

Day 10: Passau - Munich

After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour through the 2000 year old city of Passau, located at the convergence of the rivers Inn, Ilz and Danube. A highlight is a visit of St. Stephens Cathedral, home of the largest church organ which can be heard daily at noon.

In the afternoon, drive to Munich, the Bavarian state capital. Check-in at your hotel. A guided tour introduces you to this fun-loving city with its worldwide reputation as a metropolis of arts and culture. Munich has been home of Dukes, Electors and Kings of Wittelsbach for more than 600 years .

This evening, enjoy a traditional Bavarian dinner with beer and local specialties at the world famous Hofbräuhaus, the well known beer hall visited by thousands of tourists during the annual Oktoberfest.

Day 11: Flight home

After breakfast, depending on your flight departure you may have time for leisure and shopping in Munich. Drive to Munich Airport and return your rental car prior to your flight wraping up your tours of Bavaria.
